Yawn . . .

So, here it is morning again. How does time fly by so quickly? This weekend was pretty quiet, as far as weekends go. We rained out of racing Friday and Saturday, so I had a whole Friday night, all to myself! That is SO rare. Saturday, B. came by for a little bit, then I went to Lynchburg with K. on a Sam's run for the track. One heavily loaded vehicle and a trip to Olive Garden rounded out my evening. Yummm. I LOVE their salad! We ended up racing on Sunday, and had a really good show.

This week, I had last night to myself, and then tonight. Then, it gets crazy again. Scouts, helping K. get ready, then racing Friday and Saturday. Big show. Big BIG show. But, it's good times and I'm really looking forward to it.

C.'s granddaughter stopped in for a visit yesterday, always a highlight of my day. For some reason, she actually likes me. Hard to believe she's 8 months old already! And, speaking of growing up, Msh's daughter must NOT like me. Every single time I talk to her on the phone that kid ends up screaming! I'm so looking forward to visiting with her. I need a Msh fix!!!

I can tell the weather is turning cooler. For the past few nights, Britney has knocked me in the head to let her under the covers. No, my dogs not spoiled or anything! She's also figured out that if she whines and runs into the bathroom, usually I'll turn on the faucet for her to have fresh water. See, I can be trained! Like I said . . . not spoiled at all, just well-loved. Do you have pets? How many? Are they members of your family or just animals? What's the most spoiled thing they get to do?

Rabbit Food

Have I mentioned the salad kick I'm on lately? These things are AWESOME! I get them at my local Kroger, and they're cheaper than a fast food meal . . .
This one is the Tuscan Pesto Chicken . . . my personal favorite. See? Everything you need . . .

Dump it all in, give it a good shake, and voila, lunch!

I have to say though, that the best part, is the utensil that comes with it. See, it starts like this:

Then, becomes this:

And finally, this is your eating thing:

Ok, so it's a blurry picture, and I'm in desperate need of a manicure, but I fixed that tonight. Really. My nails are now Revlon Blackberry, and look pretty darn good! At least they're real, right?? Anyway, look how much easier salad is to eat this way:

Makes lunch an adventure, and something to look forward to rather than just more bunny food. And, I have to admit, they are GOOD!!!!

Anyway. I'm tired, I'm cold, I'm going to go back to being curled up on the couch listening to it rain with my puppy. TGIF, everyone!

Time for another Quote

"There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face."- Ben Williams

I already talked some about this weekend, but the two "downers", I didn't. First of all, I didn't think either one of them deserved another second of thought, but the way my head works, well, yeah, it's in there. The first was an email, that was very critical of a group of people. I didn't take it too well, but now that I've had some time to digest it, it was one person's opinion, and face it, everyone has one of those!

The other thing was a lovely little call I got at 12:31 am. At first I thought it was a text message so I just smacked my phone to make it be quiet. Then, it rang again and I had new voice mail. I'm not going to go into what it said, but let's just say, for someone to be leaving it, very immature! For the record, there was no one at my house but me and my puppy, just the way I like it! But, how sad it is that to that person, I was THAT important in the middle of the night!! Still, I fumed, and hemmed, and grumbled, more that my night of sleep got interrupted than anything. Sticks and stones and all that.

But last night, I got home, and I walked with my puppy. We went down to the river, and I watched her explore. Every night, we do the same trip. And every night, she discovers something new. It was perfect walking weather last night, and I enjoyed every second. Even better, when we got home and got settled in, she curled up right on my lap and promptly snoozed out. There has got to be no better feeling than that. And, those other issues? Poof, gone, not even a concern anymore. I love my life!!!

Such a Stud . . .

B. fixed my car! Whoo hoo! K. was right . . . he can fix anything! I'm so relieved. Took the old starter off, put the new one, and we were in business!

Last night when I got home from the race, it's obvious that Fall is here! I was SOOO cold. It was 54 degrees outside! Ok, so maybe not freezing, but maybe I need to wear more than shorts up there! I'm not really big on being cold . . .

I've been told since I'm seeing this "country boy" that I need to get on the camouflage bandwagon. I've been told that everything comes in camo. I could almost see myself compromising on a pair of flip flops, but when I went past this in Wal Mart, I finally believe it. EVERYTHING comes in camo. Seriously? You're really worried that your beer might be spotted?
Now, which is the bigger problem? Camo design on beer, or the fact that I had my camera out so that I could blog about it??

Speaking of having my camera, one of the guys from the drag strip gave me a ride to work Friday night due to my disabled vehicle. A car drove past us and flicked it's headlights. Over the next little hill, guess what we saw?
And, she was getting along just as well as the other deer that were with her! Poor thing, but at the same time, wow! That was just so cool! And, that's why I carry my camera with me. You just never know what you're going to run into . . . beer or wildlife!

Crazy Week

I have so not been loving my blog as of late. So, let me catch you up. Then, there might be just a tiny funny Sheri-dating-story at the end for you.

This week was rather crazy. Tuesday night I went to my friend K's house, and helped with some random things. And she fed me. Yumm. Slurp. She does these cube steaks with onion soup mix and mushroom soup and oh my word. Delish. I know they're easy and all that, but they are SO much better at her house!

Wed. we had a meeting about an hour and a half from here. It was . . . a meeting. Yawn. Learned a couple of things, but otherwise. Yeah. One of those. Then, that night was Cub Scouts. I was really excited about it because B's rug rats came. I think they had a good time . . . hope so anyway.

Thursday my wondermous friend A. came up and took me to Chinese. I really needed an A. fix, and we had a great time. And ate good, too! I lurve me some General Tso's chicken! It almost offset my car again being stupid and temperamental. B. said as soon as he gets a chance he'll come down and take a look. Fortunately, my oh so awesome (did I really just say that?) boss came and took me to work today.

I've talked to Mom and Dad a bit this week, and while they still have no power, they are still doing wonderfully well. A couple of the missionaries have no apartments to go back to, but as Dad said, it could be worse. They're only missing a roof. Look how quickly stuff will dry out! Yeah, that's my Dad!
Ok, funny dating story. There was this guy, Rob. Rob hit on me one day at the gas station. He made a comment about a sticker on my parents car. We had an on again/off again, never really serious, time. He would always rent these LAME movies in hopes that I might make out with him. I got really good at being enthralled at bad movies. Hello, "Albino Alligator" anybody? Anybody? One day he invited me to the lake for a day with him. He borrowed his mom's convertible, and off we went. The drive to Lake Lure is gorgeous, and we had a great time. At one point, he went off to play volleyball. Me, in my eternal quest for a decent tan, had covered myself with baby oil. I asked him to wake me up in 20 minutes to flip. 2 HOURS later, he came back. "Uh, you might want to flip over." Genius me, then rode back with the top down, in my swim suit!!! I was blistered SOO badly, I still have a permanent tan line from that suit. Wehn I got home Mom told me to go on and take a bath now - I wouldn't be able to stand it tomorrow! Was she ever right . . . . And the guy? Not a clue where he is these days. Still, he was tall, blond, blue eyed, and I have happy yummy memories of NOT sun-burned times with him!

Take a Hike, Ike!

So, finally talked to Mom yesterday. She said they are without power, but are otherwise doing just fine. She said they have hot water, a generator, gas grill, and plenty of food, so they are in better shape than others! I was really relieved to hear from them. I mean, I felt like they were fine, but it was still awfully good to hear her voice! My thanks to the many people who called to check on ME to see how I was doing!

Typical weekend. Racing, laundry, cleaning house, nothing wild and crazy. The next couple of weeks will be pretty ordinary, which I really need. What about you? Anything to get really excited about?

I Don't Like Ike

Hi to all my bloggy friends. Really. My tracker doo-ma-flatchy says that people are looking, so you MUST be out there! So, I'm putting this request out.

Please remember my parents, as well as others in Ike's path! M&D are in Houston, and have "sheltered in place" which is what they have been instructed to do. I just looked at the computer module, and the area they are in is expected to receive "Heavy Damage" as well as lots of rain. Depending on where Ike comes ashore, Houston could also have major problems with flooding. I was just in Galveston this past April. A beautiful area. Anyway, please remember them, the missionaries they are serving with, and all the other people that are going to be affected! Do you have family and loved ones there?

Remembering

So, I'm a really bad blogger. I've seen several others, "Where were you . . ." so, I'm sharing.

I was working for Wal-Mart as a CSM. The cute boy I'd been flirting with came in, and told me that a plane had just crashed. He said he thought it was a small plane. It quickly became apparant by others comments that worse had happened. My shift was 9-6, and I called M&D to let them know, since they don't follow current events like that. WM eventually changed their in-store feed to Headline News. I called Msh, since she was getting married 4 days later and currently worked in the Reagen building. She talked about being evacuated by big men with really big guns and mean dogs. She cried and told me how surreal it was to be getting on the Metro and getting home. She had planned for everything BUT a terrorist attack!

Her wedding 4 days later was a gorgeous event, but strange. 1/2 of the people who had RSVP'd couldn't come. One of the other bridesmaids was barely able to fly in on time. We missed the rehearsel because I was picking her up from BWI! I remember driving on the interstate, and all the over passes had people on them flying the flag. It was such an outpouring of patriotism and support. Pretty overwhelming.

So, today, was another day. I tried to spend some time remembering, and thinking, but in reality, you have to move on. I'd love to go to the sites someday.

Tonight I am going to B's house. He's been after me over and over to go out there. I've only been once, and that's when he took me. See, he's 20 min from work in the OPPOSITE direction of where I live, so almost 45 minutes from my house! Anyway, I'm going to make a chicken braid and spend some time with him and his kids. Fun stuff.

Seriously?

Christian fraternity says no to LDS freshman
By Mary Richards
A University of New Mexico fraternity is defending its refusal to let a freshman join because he belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Kappa Upsilon Chi says since John Bundy is LDS, he is not Christian, so he can't join their Christian fraternity. The fraternity is standing on its First Amendment rights.
Jay Wilgus, the assistant dean of students at the University of Utah and the coordinator for Greek life there said, "Student organizations as independent groups at public universities, have the ability to select their members."
Wilgus said, "We haven't encountered the situation that they are dealing with down there. That sounds like has become a more complicated first amendment issue."
But Wilgus says under the law, student organizations also must not discriminate, and that's what some say this so-called Christian fraternity has done.
Do what? Seriously? I'm sorry . . . they better do their homework! If you are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, you believe that Christ died for your sins, how does this make you NOT a Christian????

Surprises and 200

Yes, that's right . . . this is my 200th post! Kind of hard to believe! Unfortunately, I'm too broke to do any cool contests, so . . . I'll just be happy knowing this is number 200!

Want to know why this picture is something interesting? The most interesting thing about it isn't so much the red cup. It's what is UNDER the red cup. That would be a giant creepy spider that I didn't have the nerve to squish this morning! Instead, I put a cup over it and will deal with it when I get home tonight. This is one of the things I HATE about living alone!
And this? This is why I hate leaving my house at any time. I realize it's a dark picture, but do you get that guilt trip that's being laid down? That's her favorite toy, and she's pouting that I'm not playing with her! Geez. Poor baby girl . . . has SUCH a hard life!
